THE 12 STEPS

On her own path to recovery Simone strongly holds on to the following 12 Steps:

STEP 1

I screwed up.

STEP 2

Is there a way to get out of this?

STEP 3

Do I need help?

STEP 4

Write down all the things that screw me up now or have done so in the past.
Don’t lie or leave anything out!

STEP 5

Tell someone I trust about what happened.

STEP 6

I see patterns in my behaviour and how they’ve been a way to cope with trauma and difficult emotions.

STEP 7

Am I ready to deal with this without stepping back into destructive behaviours? You can’t go back now!

STEP 8

I explore alternative behaviors, and rehearse them in safe settings.

STEP 9

I practice these new mindful behaviours in real life and apologise to the people that you might have hurt when you were so screwed up.

STEP 10

Stay aware to the causes and effects of my actions.

STEP 11

Stay connected to your new perspective.

STEP 12

Stay true and loving towards yourself and the people around you, and help another if you can.
